Do You Smell Ribs Presents: THE POWER OF LOVE

Matters of the heart are complicated. You have the most beautiful eyes. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Nothing gold can stay.  But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is your computer screen, and DYSR is the sun. And to have watched DYSR's Power of Love trailer and lost (your mind over how sweet it is) is better than to never have watched DYSR's Power of Love trailer at all.

That's right y'all, it's time to get poetic, sentimental, and all the way tender. On February 9th at MIDNIGHT, Do You Smell Ribs will be presenting its second Power Hour at everyone's favorite "microcinema" the Spectacle Theater (s 3rd and Bedford in scenic&gentrified Williamsburg, Brooklyn). As usual, we do the heavy lifting for you, so you and your friends or people you don't know can kick back in the theater and get a good buzz on while you get your laugh on (but don't go getting your "bitch on" as Chris Rock once said in his novelty R&B single "I Love Champagne," 'cus that is our job!).

You're all veterans by now, but allow me to remind you of the drill. Sixty clips in sixty minutes. When the clip changes, you take a shot of beer. Each clip acts as a punchline of sorts to the one before it, but PAY ATTENTION because some of the connections are subtle and there will be a quiz (no there won't). We'll provide you with customized shot glasses, but you bring the beer--we may be entertainers, geniuses and magicians, but we are NOT millionaires.

Loosely tied together by themes of love, longing, familial affection, obsession, and innuendo just in time for VD (valentines day, not your contraction of a venereal disease). WARNING: some of these clips are STEAMY. You might want to wear a condom.

$5 at the door, which goes to keeping Spectacle afloat, not to us, even though we probably deserve oodles of cash for this. We like to think of it as community service, really.

Oh, and we recommend showing up on the earlier side--last time the seats filled up quick! And in all seriousness, thanks to everyone who came out to the first power hour! It  was a real blast for us! You know in the Gator Golf commercial when the song goes "What could be greater than playing a game of golf with a gator?" Well we totally think our first screening was way better than that game sounds. So let's "give it a wack" again on Feb. 9!!!! Hope to see you there!

Pssst look over here, it's a generic picture of little kids kissing.

BONUS: The following Sade jam is not in the new Power Hour (or is it?), but it has a lyric "look up at the sky, it's the color of love," MF Doom sampled it, and there's a cool picture of hands in a heart along with lyrics in Lucida Sans, the official font of E-Cards sent by your mom.  Dedicated to our friend Mr. Nicholson, Sade's most ardent heterosexual male fan.
